It’s my client Salima’s birthday month, and she wanted to know how to keep a youthful glow at age 54. She finds that her normal beauty routine looks tired and wanted some makeup tips to help her look refreshed, relevant, natural and age-appropriate:

Primer
Radiant skin is essential for looking youthful, and aside from using moisturizer, wearing a primer that illuminates the skin is a must. I applied some Smashbox Photo Finish Illuminate Glow Primer to her skin to help brighten her complexion and create a healthy-looking glow with a universal shimmer.

Foundation
I evened out her complexion using Stila One Step Correct in Deep. This is a great all-in-one colour corrector, brightener and hydrator, and leaves the skin looking and feeling natural and flawless. To brighten under her eyes, I used Tula Brightening Serum Concealer in No. 150. It’s a skin-care-meets-makeup hybrid that combines skin-boosting benefits with high performance medium-to-full coverage.
Bronzer
A great way to get a natural-looking, sun kissed complexion is with a bronzer and highlighter. On Salima, I used NARS Laguna Bronzer to contour her face and then applied a light dusting of Stila Heaven’s Hue Highlighter to the peek points of her face (tip of nose, cheekbones and brow bone). Remember, less is more. Lastly, on her cheeks I used Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Dollface.
Eyes
Shadow
I started by dressing Salima’s eyelids with Florence by Mills Eye Candy Eyeshadow Stick in Toffee. I then lined her eyes with Stila Stay All Day Smudge Stick in Vivid Amethyst and blended it out. For a softer eye makeup look, I suggest swapping out a hard liner for a softer, smudged-out finish.

Brows
To create a flawless and natural-looking brow shape for Salima, I used the Sephora Collection Retractable Brow Pencil Waterproof in Midnight Brown. To keep her brows in perfect place, I followed by using the Sephora Collection Shape and Set Clear Brow Gel in Clear. Keep in mind that filling in the eyebrows can positively improve your overall look. It’s a step I rarely skip as it frames the face and anchors the eyes.
Lips
Lipstick
I love a nude lip for fall, and while Salima’s go-to colour is deep burgundy, I wanted to show her that she could look pretty in pink. I started by lining and filled-in her lips with NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner in Tea and Cookies. I then dabbed on Glo Skin Beauty Lip Gloss in Cupcake.
